Packer Plugin (wcx) for Registry Files (*.reg)?

Post by *theosdikaios »

Do there is a packer plugin which can browse in exported registry files (*.reg) similar the file system plugins Registry or CoRegistry? I looked for but found WCReg only which is outdated because it can not read Unicode registry files.

TIA.

There is no other packer plugin for registry files I am aware of. It is also worth to note that only few plugins are truly Unicode.

Sorry but I don`t understand the problem. Original file:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Huawei technologies]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Huawei technologies\Mobile Partner CustomTool]
"ExeName"="Mobilt Bredband.exe"
"ExePath"="C:\\Program Files\\Mobilt Bredband"
New file:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Huawei technologies]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Huawei technologies\Mobile Partner CustomTool]
"ExeName"="eeeeMobilt Bredband.exe"
"ExePath"="rrrrC:\\Program Files\\Mobilt Bredband"
Values in new file have "eeee" & "rrrr" prefixes as you describe. I don`t see any strange. What the bug is?

Now I see. But this is the problem of your editor. Your text editor stored text file with BOM after editing. My plugin just save content of edited file without any encoding. Plugin converts text values into UTF16LE text files without BOM and plugin waits you pack UTF16LE text files without BOM into archive.

So plugin works only with:
Notepad++ & Notepad2

won't work with:
SynWrite, EditPlus & default notepad.exe

The logic of import/export of text values has been changed. In new version txt values are UTF16LE text files with BOM. And when you copy txt file into reg file plugin detects text encoding by BOM. You can copy UTF16LE, UTF16BE or UTF8 files. If BOM is absent text will be processed as ANSI.

Plugin creates decRegWCX.ini file in the directory offered by TC. You can edit ini file and set .txt extension instead of .REG_SZ. After this you will can edit values with Enter again.

Also in new version you can merge 2 reg files into single by coping first reg file into second. Also it it possible to copy keys from Registry or CoRegistry plugins.
