Renaming a locked folder or file

Post by *nver85 »

When renaming a locked folder or file and getting an error dialog, it would be nice to have an option to retry, or just copy the new name you wanted to clipboard...Sometimes it is just not a pleasure to type the name again :)

I think additional button "another name" won't hurt.

That too. But only if the edit field for "another name" will contain the name which user typed in the first attempt to rename the locked file

I'll second this request. I often try to rename a PDF I have open in Acrobat. I would be nice if the new name I just typed would remain so I can retry the rename after I close the reader.

Yes!

I wouldn't mind if shift-f6 opens a dialog instead of doing it where the current name is displayed. Or otherwise, up and down arrows are not used for anything specific so it could have a memory of the most recently used names.

Same thing could be done for shift-f5.
