TC 6.01 & NAV
Hello to all,
TC 6.01 (registered) - win 98SE - Norton anti Virus 2003 -
Is there anyway to be able to select a file in TC and invoke NAVW32.exe (??) to scan the selected file. like in the context menu of (bite my tongue) windows explorer ? Create button or ?
Any assistance appreciated.

Navdx.exe command line scanner
captjlddavis -
Navdx.exe is the command line scanner utility in NAV. Just add the
'NAV file virus scan' Item option (or any name you choose) to your
Start Menu in TC with the following information (your's if different):
Command: c:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Navdx.exe /B- /M-
Parameters: %p%n
When this Item is selected, the file under the cursor will be scanned.
Hope this helps...

Mark,
Thanks again for your assistance.
I dug a little deeper,
c:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\Navdx.exe /B- /M-
Navdx.exe seems to call the DOS scan,
c:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\NAVW32.exe /B- /M-
Navw32.exe seems to call the windows scan.
The windows scan seems to run a bit faster than the DOS scan. It is very hard to tell on a quick machine.
Do you know if there is any real difference between the two ?
TIA

Does NAV command line syntax support the parameter to process list file (i.e. file with a list of files/paths to process)? If it does you can sand to NAV list of selected files via Commander "%L" placeholder, and process not only one file but ALL selected files.
I use AVPro/KAV this way (via KBD shortcut):
Command: avp32
Parameters: /@=%L
[v] run minimized[/face]

Well, Russian respectable AV brands have it, so NAV just should to - it supposed to be respectable too %). Just read the manual.

That's Commander, who creates this files. You purpose is to find CL parameter to feed it to NAV (like "/@=" for KAV). If you'll success, you'll see NAV scanner window with files specified processing.[/face]

Have you ever tried to press the right mouse button for more than about 2 seconds at the file you want to scan?
A menu will appear with the option:
Scan with Norton Antivirus.....

Sometimes a solution is so close
Remember to use the right button whenever you need a function.
A lot of (new) programs and their functions are showing with the right mouse button....
Also special attention for the "Print" function.
