CTRL+F3 (Compare files) for Sync Dir does not work anymore

Post by *adsads »

Until version 7.04a it was possible to use the CTRL+F3 to "Compare left & right" files when "Synchronizing directories" also when the files were present ONLY in the left or ONLY in the right directory.

It was also possible to use double click on a file name in the "Synchronize directories" window, to do the same thing when the files were present ONLY in the left or ONLY in the right directory.

But since version 7.50, the double click on a file name AND the CTRL+F3, work ONLY if the file is present in both directories. :-(

It's very useful when you have a file with a slightly different name to be able to select it manually from the "Compare contents" window which is opened by CTRL+F3 or double click on a file name.

Please activate the double click on a file name AND the CTRL+F3 shortcuts again. They should be active all the time, even if the file to be compared/synchronized in present only in one directory (left or right).

Thanks!
:-)

BTW, is this a feature or a bug?
This phenomenon happened some time ago with other versions of TC. If I remember correctly, it was some 6.x version when it stopped working, but after some posts here in the forum, it was corrected.
Regards!

Will it be fixed?

I just want to ask the author if he considers reactivating the CTRL-F3 and the double click (or at least one of them) in the future (7.55 or later).
Thank you!

Actually this was reported as a bug during the beta test of TC 7.50, and was fixed here:
31.03.09 Fixed: Synchronize dirs: Only open compare by content if both sides on that line contain a file

I'm not sure whether I should really re-enable that. What do other users think?

I don't think that it does any harm to re-enable it - and apparantly it is a benefit for some users.

Ctrl+F3 can now again be used for single files in TC 7.55 rc3 :-)

Yes, I added this, and also enabled the menu item in the context menu. However, the double click will only work when there are two files.
