If the option to show truncated filenames as tooltips is checked and the option to use Win32 style tooltips is NOT checked, the tooltip appears about 11 lines above the mouse and moves as you move the mouse. In the left pane, it seems to have the 10th-12th character lined up over the mouse. In the right pane, the tooltip is over above the left pane, but also moves in sync with the mouse. In other words, move the mouse back and forth and the tooltip moves back and forth. Unchck Win32 style tooltips and they appear under the mouse, but in a small font.
Here's a screnshot;

Filename tooltips not displayed properly in Win98SE

I cannot confirm this under Windows XP.

I also tried with Windows Classic Theme - still no problems.
Must be a Windows 98 specific bug...

I can confirm the problem on Win98SE. Please use Win32 style tips until I can find a solution.
