moving pdf-files

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

moving pdf-files

Post by *fossi2 »

I am not shure, if it is a problem from TC but when I use TC for to move pdf-files in another directory, the files are afterwords not readable. It is also not possible to delete this defect pdf-file or the directory.
A program for to repair pdf-files is not able to repair the files.

If I use the copy command, everything works well. I only have to delete the copied file from the old directory.

Is it possible that TC is destroying the files when the command move is used?
I use WinXP(32)prof.

There is no problem with moving PDF files from TC.
You may have installed some Lister plugin which holds open a file after viewing, this will prvent moving it.

IMHO "move" handles the permissions (access, write, ...) in another way than copy. Maybe there are different rights and permissions on source- and targetfolders?

Where do you move them? What are the user permissions of the target?

For example I make a directory temp1 and a directory temp2 both on harddisk C. Then I open in TC a left window with directory temp1 and a right one with directory temp2. In temp2 is the pdf-file I want to transfer to temp1. When I do the transfer with the move-command, the file is no longer readable in directory temp1. If i make it with copy, no problem. On the permissions I have never changed anything.
I have remarked, that I was using a beta-version of TC.
Might be that there was this problem. With the version 7.55a all is ok.

Thank you for your help

Please check the permissions of temp1 with Alt+Enter, and list them here. I assume that they are set to "do not inherit permissons", so the files inside will have no permissions.
