basic operation of xPDFSearch

Post by *Gil Carrick »

Wow. I feel terrible. I just upgraded TC to 7.55a and installed xPDFSearch. I can see the facilities under the Multirename but nothing else. When I do a Search it does not find any files and I can't see how to use the basic functionality of seeing the metadata in a pdf file. Any newbie help wold be much appreciated.

Searching

If you'd like to search for files using xPDFSearch plugin justL
1. open Find files indow (Alt+F7)
2. go to Plugins tab
3. Check Search in plugins
4. in Plugin dropdown choose xpdfsearch
5. select desired Property (i.e. Text)
6. select Operator (i.e. contains)
7. type in wanted search phrase
8. click on Start search

Viewing metadata

The easiest way (there are many*) is to create custom columns view and switch between it and Full when desired:
1. go to Configuration -> Display -> Custom columns
2. click on New
3. define your view name (i.e. PDF view)
4. click on Add column button
5. specify column name
6. click on + button
7. in menu navigate to desired field (i.e. xpdfsearch -> Keywords)
8. repeat steps 6 & 7 as many times as you want
9. hit OK to save settings and OK for closing Configuration window

Now you can use Shift+F1 for switching between view.

*) More info on request :)
