Recently I started work on more network related file operation (over VPN or other slow connection). One area that would help with productivity is if the file listing would fire asynchronously. That way, you can load 1 window/tab and work on the other if the tab is loading. Extending that, you could queue up multiple requests to load different folders on different tabs.
I'm sure a lot of other people could also relate to when local network shares are accessed, the first time may be slow due to remote server HD spin down or network initialization.
I can work around this by creating new total commander instances, but it's not ideal and leads to desktop mess (I already have 10-20 other windows for various things -- don't ask why, it's justified with all the task I have to juggle).
