Feature Request: Force text view on Quickview call

Post by *icfu »

I have many multimedia plugins installed and often I wished I could force quickview to start in binary or text mode instead of multimedia mode for example when quickviewing an avi file to have a quick look at the header.

Right now I have to wait till quickview has finished loading the vid (or pdf, whatever) and then press 1 or 2. Unfortunately that doesn't work with some plugins (like DSView) because some authors obviously forget to forward keystrokes to the lister window...
Anyway, this way even if it works is circumstantial.

My proposal is as follows:
1. CTRL+Q+Shift (or F3+Shift) opens quickview in binary mode
2. Some more options, CTRL+Q+(1-7) opens quickview directly in the demanded mode

Any chance that this is implemented or any other solutions (except disabling option 'Load bitmaps on startup' of course ;-))?

TIA

Indeed this is quite annoying... I got the ieview plugin installed and indeed it is not possible to switch mode with 1 2 3...

I don't know who's responsabilities for it as I never did a plug in myself but if it is the plug in writers I think that they should solve this problem within their plug in.

An option to launch the lister directly in different mode is good but the fact to be able to change it directly in the lister via the 1 2 3 key must work with all viewer plugins...

Are you sure? %)

__________transmission_from_ieview.ini___________

[hotkeys]
; This section contains hotkeys that, when received by the IE
; window, will be sent to the Lister window. Lister hotkeys
; that are not in these lists will not work.
File=N;P;Ctrl+P;Esc;
Edit=Ctrl+C;Ctrl+A;

_______________end_of_transmission________________

Just add "View=1;2;3;4;5;6;7;" to [hotkeys] section - works for me w/o problems.

As you can see, they did in this particular case %).

You can use the "FORCE" operand in appropriate plugin detection string to prevent it from loading automatically.[/face]

Hi Black Dog,

Thanks ....Ok should admit I didn't take the time to look in the ini file.... :oops:

But message for the authors of plugins: why not adding per default the default hotkeys of the lister?

Yuri created brilliance flexible configuration - you can change almost any aspect of IEView behavior, but you just ignore it, actually. So be a good boy next time %).

Well, this is their business, I guess, what to set as default in their plugins.[/face]
