add more width to the separator.

Post by *ay222 »

Hi all
Do you agree with me that is the panel separator width is very tiny and many times you find difficult to adjust the mouse pointer on it to resize the panels.
I thinking in a new entry to wincmd.ini like SparatorWidth=

Please Mr. Ghisler do favor and add this entry or just add more width to the separator.

Thanks.

Currently it's 3 pixles wide, but I dont find the width too small to adjust, maybe your mouse isnt so precise?

Or have you Parkinson's syndrome?

(It's a joke) :D

Seriously, I also support this wish.

I don't need it wider but if it was I would like to be able to put some buttons on it :-) Althought I mainly use keyboard, in some case I use a mouse and it seems to me to be the best place to have the most often used buttons there.

Excuse me. I believe that the automatic translators do not work absolutely well.

I did not mean that: "It is a joke that somebody has Parkinson's syndrome".
I mean that: "I hope that ay222 does not get upset" (is correct this expression?).

The panel separator is good for me. What I want is an internal command to move it to 20/80...etc.

Hello, bonjour Leif,
Well, suppose he HAS Parkinson's syndrome? Where's the joke then?
• Right. You know that I like fine jokes, but "Parkinson" isn't a word to include in jokes...
• I ought to use the mouse because I've a broken bone in my right hand, inoperable, that is a - light - but painful and annoying handicap for a good hand using...

Hi!
¤ It's a good idea too, since we have only a 50/50 command currently. I support this too

:) Kind regards,

OK, there is another idea What about a new internal command cm_Split when executed the mouse pointer put on separator automatically and you can move it left or right until you clck the mouse. you can find an example for this behavoir in windows registry View menu> Split command

:D Hi!

¤ I tested this in the Register, yes, that works fine. It's even better than enlarge the separator stripe.
With an usual TC command like:
cm_HookCursorToSeparator more explicit, I guess... "Split" makes a confusion with "Split files" for newbies!
¤ It should allow to install an extra menu entry, or a button - handier, I think- .
:) I support this too.
• The one snag is that documents risk to be missing to implement this (?)

This one seems obsolete. Rightclick works great and at high resolutions there isn't a single reason to do that, [but I guess some people don't have big screens...] except if it can assign different sizes to different tabs or combinations of tabs of same folders.

Can you store right/left TAB combination or even envoke it by clickiing designated TAB? If this function is (will be) implemented than resizing and storing tabpairs looks great for different tasks on same files.

I second djk's suggestion of buttons on the separator. It's been on my wish list for a long time.

DOpus and Salamander each support a configurable central toolbar and I can't believe how useful it is.

A central toolbar is the shortest "mouse" distance from either panel of any possible toolbar location.

Now if it also implemented dynamic tool button icons that switched according to which panel was active...
