[8.0ß2-x64] Quick selection-deselection of a file on actions

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[8.0ß2-x64] Quick selection-deselection of a file on actions

Post by *Flint »

I noticed that on some actions the 64-bit TC sometimes very quickly selects and immediately deselects the current file under cursor. In my case this happens in two different cases:
• I click on a file or directory with the left mouse button to set the cursor on it (the clicked file becomes red and then immediately black).
• I press Ctrl+Alt+C or Ctrl+Alt+V which are defined in my wincmd.ini as cm_CopyFullNamesToClip and cm_CopyNamesToClip, respectively (the file under cursor becomes red, then black).

Actually, the hotkey in the second situation is not needed, such select-deselect can occur even when I type the command in the command line and press Enter, but it does not happen each time, so with hotkey it's easier to reproduce.

The reproducability seems to be somehow related to other wincmd.ini options as well, because when I try with empty INI the selection-deselection becomes much faster, less visible and occurs more rarely than with my working wincmd.ini, though I failed to find out which options are responsible to it (the effect became equally weaker and weaker, no matter which wincmd.ini section I removed).

If necessary, I can record a video so that the effect was visible in slow-motion.

Flint,
Something similar to this, perhaps?
File gets selected while mousing over with SingleClickStart
Or something completely different?

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

It may well be. At least, Christian's explanation fits my situation too. But in 7.5x and in 8.0 32-bit I cannot catch even the slightest blink of this selection, while in 64-bit version it's very visible and quite annoying…

This happens because some functions only work with selected files. Therefore the file is quickly selected, the function is performed, and the file is unselected.

It seems to me that performance was decreased, because in 7.5x or in 8.0 32-bit I never saw any selection flickering when doing the same actions, and in 8.0 64-bit they are clearly visible…
