TC 8.0 beta 3 file search - missing status line

Post by *Mike Sierra »

I noticed that in the 'search file' window, when performing the search procedure there is no longer an indication of the searched directories in the status line - in fact the status line seems to be missing (did a search for *.ext in "all local disks").

Theme? - what's the "theme"?

Just did a new search - same result: The bottom line of the (full-screen) search window contains 4 greyed-out buttons with"show", "new search", "goto" and "use" (translated from my German installation).
There is no status line in which TC7.56a showed the currently searched directory.

Theme? - what's the "theme"?
Here "theme" refers to the Windows themes you can select when you right-click your Windows desktop and choose the last item "Personalization".

Ah!
Strange that the theme should influence the behaviour of a program?

My (current) theme is an additionally downloaded one called "GTGraphics" - from the win7 site.
Other themes I use are: "Nasa Hidden Universe" or "Surreal Territory by Chuck Anderson". which also show the described behaviour of TC.

A theme can cause parts of the user interface to be distorted or hidden - so an incompatibility between theme and program could cause hiding of the status line in this case.

Yes, it could be caused e.g. by a theme with very large borders.

Do you see the status line with the standard Windows 7 AeroGlass theme?

I've chosen the theme "Windows 7" - I assume that this is what you call "Aero Glass".
Here's a link (at least I try to) for a screenshot with my usual theme (GTGraphics):
Image: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XR3mBhkoYT4/TosuRvdhf0I/AAAAAAAAD1g/Kvr3aDUT_2k/s800/snap0012.jpg
And this is the same view, with the "Windows 7" theme:Image: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-JmuFKroBN9o/TosuRZHzcvI/AAAAAAAAD1c/ettUEN-C3m0/s800/snap0013.jpg

:) Ah!

Indeed, when I start the search in a not-full-screen-mode (!) then I can see the status line (I just noticed that I haven't mentioned THAT detail yet - see third screenshot with search in windowed-mode:

And now - after revealing the issue with full screen mode - another observation:
If you start search in full screen mode (using the middle button of the three in the upper right corner) I don't have a status line.
As soon as I drag the window (!) to the upper rim of the desktop, so Win7 makes a fullscreen window automatically, there IS a status line. The line pops up, as soon as you move the window. And it stays visible, until you start a new search in fullscreen mode (where the input area only covers the uppermost quarter of the screen, the "full screen" is only covered by the search result list).

I can confirm Mike Sierra's observations now. When opening the the search dialog in "full screen" the status line is not visible during the search. Restoring window size and maximizing it again brings up the status line (64bit version only)

Thanks, maximizing was the problem! It's caused by different ways how Delphi and Lazarus handle screen corrdinates.
