I guess you have no right to change anything in TC.

I can't see how this editor can help you since TC incorporates CRC check on start-up, meaning, if you change the .exe TC will give you an error message (something about possible virus infection). Besides, TC's executable is compressed (UPX) (uncompressing will give the same error message).
In short, you can't do it unless you're willing to remove the CRC check somehow.
Cheers.

I supposed that Tobbe wanted to change Icons in Wincmd.icl but wasn't aware that there is a difference between changing the Icons and manipulate TC.exe.JackFoo wrote:I can't see how this editor can help you since TC incorporates CRC check on start-up, meaning, if you change the .exe TC will give you an error message (something about possible virus infection). I guess if Tobbe were able to manipulate TC.exe succesfully he wouldn't need to ask for a resource editor

2Tobbe : If you just want to change the Icons for Drives just add a line to WINCMD.INI at Configuration section.
drivelib=<path to DLL>\drvbmps.dll
There are already several DLLs available, just use the search function at this forum or look at ClubTotal (if it is back online).

You can request skinning feature (hey, dont blame meTobbe wrote:No, I did not just want to change the icons. I wanted to change as much as I can. I've modded most of my system and want to give TC the same feel as the rest of windows...

You should know that this is illegal. I would not support you to do such changes, and I hope noone in this forum will.Tobbe wrote:No, I did not just want to change the icons. This is incorrect, you should know that you can use the software in any way that pleases you (with some exceptions, harming someone etc.), for instance just the other day I changed a couple of bytes in a system dll just for the fun of it and Bill can't do squat about it, legally or otherwise. It all boils down to private usage, as long as it's private you can mangle the software as you like. You should know that this is illegal.
This is indeed the wrong forum for cracking one on one, but Tobbe doesn't seem to be an uber cracker on a quest to blow the world up so no need to be so rough. He wasn't trying to crack TC and sell it to the higher bidder he just asked an innocent enough question.I would not support you to do such changes, and I hope noone in this forum will.
Cheers.

Look at your EULA and you'll see that you broke the law. Microsoft prohibits explicit the disassembling, decompiling and reverse engineering of his software. And it reserves all not explicit granted rights depending to their Soft.

EULA doesn't mean anything, it absolves the company, but doesn't hold any legal hammer over my head, in short it's not binding. There was not a single case about EULA nor will there be regarding private usage.
For instance you might think that modding PS2 is illegal, well it's not:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/54/35097.html
if you don't trust theregister as a reliable source there are more sources publishing this story. And this is regarding hardware, software is well, software I can do whatever I want with it, even wipe my a** if it suits me (sorry about the expression).
Cheers.

You can do with it whatever you want as long as you don't spread the altered version and use it strictly private only.
EULAs in which is specified that you have no right to disassemble or other 'bad' things are completely worthless, at least that's true for Germany.
Unfortunately the internal exe check prevents you from changing the resources of the program so you have to disable it first. How to do that is your own responsibility.

You accepted the EULA otherwise you would not work with windows. I doubt that any judge would see it in your way.JackFoo wrote:EULA doesn't mean anything, it absolves the company, but doesn't hold any legal hammer over my head, in short it's not binding.
I didn't know that you're Italian. Im not and I'm sure in germany you coudn't do this legally. Or in USA.For instance you might think that modding PS2 is illegal, well it's not:

BTW you think you're the one to complain about rudeness, do you?

Completely wrong, but since you're not convinced up till now, I won't bother anymore. You accepted the EULA otherwise you would not work with windows. I doubt that any judge would see it in your way.
It doesn't matter what country you're from, it's the precedent that counts.I didn't know that you're Italian. Im not and I'm sure in germany you coudn't do this legally. Or in USA.
I'm not going to respond to that, since it was only to convey a point which you won't accept anyway.BTW you think you're the one to complain about rudeness, do you?
Cheers.
