Hi!
Recently I work alot with bzip2 plugin (bzip2 is the best packer for txt files). But I find that some packed files are unusable (cannot extract) cause of crc error. Is this a know bug and/or is possible to add in the plugin a crc check after compression (like in zip)?
As an info with the files I compress the best compression ratio is with compression lever 1 and not level 9...

Hello!
• The CRC checksum doesn't work with a *.bz2 archive.
• The size of the packed file inside the *. bz2 is displayed instead the real non-packed size, when you open the archive by "Enter" or double-click.
• So, the CRC control is unusable at this. It displays a non-existent error always.
• I just tested to pack a *.TXT file >>> 36.3 KB
• I got a 13.3 KB *.txt.bz2 archive.
• Unpacking this archive, I got again the original *.TXT alright.
Kind regards
Clo

Not exactly :). Try 7-zip with PPMd compression e.g. "-m0=PPMd:mem156m:o32" or RAR with "-m5".

Well, everything can happen...

You can test archive by hands actually - just hit "Alt"+"Shift"+"F9".

Do not confirm.
BTW, there are two extensions associated with bzip2dll.wcx - ".bz2" and ".tar.bz2" so you can use the latter to compress more than one file at once.[/face]
