[8.0ß11] Multi-Rename-Tool Rename mask replace bug

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[8.0ß11] Multi-Rename-Tool Rename mask replace bug

Post by *morkork »

in the MRT rename mask input field "[N]" is initially highlighted/selected. When I click a mask button the new mask from the button does not replace the selected mask in the input field but appends it. When I later select something in the input field it is correctly replaced by a mask button click.

Example:
- open MRT, input field shows: "[N]" initially highlighted/selected (when dialog is opened or reset to default)
- click on button "[C] Counter" -> input field shows "[N][C]" (wrong, "[N]" should have been replaced by "[C]" because it was selected)
- then select/highlight "[N][C]" in input field again, click on button "[C] Counter" -> selection is replaced correctly and shows "[C]".

When everything is reset to defaults from the selectbox to the right or the MRT is opened again the behaviour is wrong again and the selection again is not been replaced by a button click.

Not confirmed either. Which Windows version and language settings do you use?

Did a fresh TC 8.0ß11 install with default ini on german Windows 7 64bit, problem still there :-( Here's a video that shows what happens, the first tries show the unreplaced selection when opened or reset to default, the last try with a manual selection shows correct behaviour: http://www.multiupload.com/YUIG2LP6MR (TC-MRT.avi, 10.35 MB)

I guess that it's caused by your mouse driver: The speed buttons in Lazarus have Windows handles (contrary to Delphi speed buttons). Apparently the focus is stolen from the edit control before TC gets the button click, so windows removes the selection. I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do about it.

Btw, in the 32-bit version the edit box is initially not selected, so you get a similar append effect.

Hmm, that's default Win 7 mouse driver for the MS Intellimouse on one computer, Logitech drivers for MX 500 on another one, both have the same effect... well, guess I have to live with it then.

when you left-click ANY window titlebar in windows to move it. do you see your mouse getting a little translucent? and does your mouse loose it's grip when you for example mark sevral items on your desktop? had a problem with my logitech driver that caused these sorts of behaviour. i never found a fix for it though. but i ended my conclution at a bluetooth driver problem so this propably does'nt count for you
