8.0b12 (x64) and earlier on Win7 64-bit - no folder refresh

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

8.0b12 (x64) and earlier on Win7 64-bit - no folder refresh

Post by *mescator »

Noticed that since I use 8.0 folders shown in panels do not refresh contents. I need to change focus to a particular panel to force refresh.
Simple way to reproduce: copy a file into visible folder in background (i.e. command line). The panel remains unchanged. After clicking on it, new file appears on list.

I cannot confirm this.

What is your setting of WatchDirs in your wincmd.ini file?

NOT confirmed for TC 8 B12 x32 and x64.
Both panels are updated automatically if some files are copied or deleted in background.

Not confirmed either.

Maybe you need to activeate auto-refresh first? Configuration - Options - Refresh (lower half of the dialog page).

You are right.
Has the default setting change from 6.x/7.x -> 8.x ?
I've never had to enable Refresh in previous versions.

It's disabled by default in all versions, for speed reasons.

On my pc (windows-7 PRO-SP1),

I confirm that refresh does not work on the beta14-x64 bit version, UNLESS you activate the option,

whereas for the old (and glorious) 32-bit version, refresh always works EVEN IF I DO NOT ACTIVATE THE OPTION !

NOT confirmed. Maybe the two use different wincmd.ini files on your system?

Hello, Christian.

Should this thread not be moved either to the "Fixed Bugs" section or to the "Behaviour which will not be changed" section?
So far the reports only confirmed that some users make incorrect assumptions about the default value of the WatchDirs parameter which in turn misleads them to the assumption the real default behaviour constituted a bug. But it does not.

Kind regards,
Karl

Yes, you are right. I will move it to "will not be changed" because there was nothing to fix.
