[8.0ß14-x64] Ding when master password dialog closed

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[8.0ß14-x64] Ding when master password dialog closed

Post by *Flint »

An extract from here to avoid mixing of problems.

I too confirm that there is an excessive ding sound when pressing Enter in master password dialog, and this ding is not present in 32-bit version. This functionality should be consistent between different TC versions. Otherwise those users who work with both versions will be afraid that some error happened in 64-bit version, because the 32-bit version did not give any sound for the same actions.

I have checked it a little more, and the ding is dependant on the seting of [General] Allowhook=0 in wcx_ftp.ini

With allowhook=1:
In the 32 bit version the ding occurs when the password dialog OPENS.

In the 64 bit version there is a ding when the password dialog OPENS and another ding AFTER I have filled out the password and I press Enter.

With Allowhook=0
In the 32 bit version there is no ding at all.

In the 64 bit version the ding occurs AFTER I have filled out the password and I press Enter.

So with allowhook=1 I can confirm Flints observation.

The ding with AllowHook=1 is fully intentional, it should inform the user about the secure mode. The ding in normal mode is not intentional, it's probably the usual Lazarus ding bug.

The report is not about the fact of the presence of ding, but about the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit.

There is still one more ding in the 64 bit version than in the 32bit version of TC 8.0b15 when Connecting to an FTP-site protected with master password and allowhook=1.
