Which Android version do you use on the Galaxy Tab? It should work OK up to Android 4, I haven't heared of any users with the problem so far. Do you use a rooted firmware?

I see - do you use any alternative firmware like Cyanogenmod? I know that there are some problems with alternative firmwares, although Total Commander does work with Cyanogenmod.is rooted
You should also check in the device settings whether the installation of apps from alternate sources is enabled or not.

Thanks, but I do not accept donations for Total Commander. It's my hobby project, that's why it's 100% free.
About your install problem, maybe you can see the real error with a tool like alogcat:
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat
There are many other log viewers out there if you cannot install programs from the market.
