command line paramters

Post by *ChrisBo »

Are there any command line parameters for TC? For example, I would like to start TC with the My Documents folder. In the Desktop-TC, I use totalcmd /L="e:\my documents".
I tried it with tcmd /L="\SD-Card\My Documents\", but it didn't work.
Thanx in advance.

If you use Total Commander's built-in editor to modify your shortcut to the program, you can, in fact, force the program to open in a specific directory. I've tried it on my Jornada 565 (ARM device) running PocketPC 2002, and it works just fine.

Find "Total Commander.lnk" on your device and open it in TC's editor. Then add a space followed by the desired path name to the end of the existing command. For example, mine now reads:
  • 46#"\Program Files\Total Commander\cecmd.exe" "\My Documents"
The quotation marks are necessary due to the spaces in the path names. No idea what 46# signifies; that was created automatically by the system.

@Gerry
Thank you very much. That's exactly I was looking for.

Are there any plans to add command line paramters to tc in the future?

46 is the length of the command! You shouldn't modify links like this - instead tap&hold on the lnk file, choose "properties" and go to the second page of the dialog to change the link.

Another very useful feature of TC I hadn't even noticed; I'll certainly use that approach next time. Thanks for the tip!

I would like to see command line arguments to support 2 features:
1. Launch the TC editor with a specific file.
2. Specify the current folder TC starts in.

I would like to have that too! I really would like to do my .txt-edits within totalcommanders editor by default!

Hmm, AFAIK, TC doesnt have any editor built-in. So the editor you are speaking about is an external editor, which can be associated to *.txt files.
Unless you are talking about a Lister plugin, like
http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/syn.html
In this case, the answer is no, it is not possible at the moment.

PS. I'm sorry, this above is not relevant at all

SanskritFritz,
You should really start to filter your feeds. ;)

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
