Non-english subtitles in TC Media Player

Post by *GanJi »

Hi
The TC media player is one of the best hidden gems I found recently :) Great work. The playlist and hardware decoding are awesome. The only think stopping me from using it is the Cyrillic subtitles display - it seems the player cannot detect the encoding and displays them garbled. And I did not find an option to change the subtitles encoding and/or font. English subs display correctly.

Any advice on how to solve it? Or maybe add an option to (persistently) select encoding?

Unfortunately I couldn't find anything in the MediaPlayer docs regarding the control of subtitles. Maybe anyone else can find something? If yes, please let me know! All I found was MediaPlayer.TrackInfo which allows to get the language of the subtitle track. But there doesn't seem to be a function to choose the subtitles or subtitle font.

Maybe it helps to set the language manually to Russian in Total Commander itself (menu Configuration)?

Recode all your tags to UTF8.
