New Excel plugin available for 64-bit TC

Post by *alexanderwdark »

Simple MS Excel documents wlx - viewer, that works without Excel application. Possible replacement of Excellence in 64 bit TC.

Supports some advanced options, that you can find in right-click menu.

Hi Alexander,

a nice plugin, thank you. Can you add support for keybord shortcut "Ctrl+Tab" and "Ctrl+Shft+Tab" to cycle through Excel sheets? Also it would be great if you could add a search dialog via "Ctrl+F".

Thanks for this new plugin.

Could you please make it use redcell.ini from its own plugin folder if redcell.ini is manually put there.

Could you also make the padding of the grey column and row headers smaller - they take up more space than necessary both vertically and horizontally (compared to Excellence).

And yes, a search function would be nice.

The search is working now, thank you. :)

Unfortunately enabling "Auto fit columns" from the right click menu is not a persistent setting. With every new instance of the RedCell lister plugin the default setting is used, "Auto fit columns=off". Can you please add this setting to the ini-file in order to remember the user preference. Btw, shouldn't there be a check mark visible in the right click menu for each enabled option?

At this moment auto-fit isn't option, this is simple command.

There are auto-fit based on colum width from file and minimum width, defined in right-click options form. Later, I think, it's good idea to add calculated auto-fit while file open (as option).

I am very glad that you enjoyed it. I'm very close to a 64-bit OS and 64-bit native mall, so I try to write things that I do, and I will use it.

Thank you very much. That's a worthy successor of Excellence. :D One reason less for the need of 32bit version.
One remark: I have problem with key 4 which toggles the different lister plugin. It is impossible to switch from redcell to ulister, vice versa there's no problem.

how can one say they are absolutely impossible?" Leibniz

Hi Alexander,

I can confirm the toggle problem. Something else I noticed is that the layout of cells is a bit odd: above and below the cell text there is quite some whitespace, while there is no whitespace after the text. Especially when using autofit column, the cell immediately ends after any text.

Regards, EricB

Edit: also sometimes a viewed file cannot be closed anymore using ESC key. This might be due to the presence of tLister, a plugin that shows opened files in lister in separate tabs.

Hi Alexander,

Something else I noticed is that RedCell.ini is always put into TC main folder. Would it be possible to leave it in its own folder (like TC8\Plugins\wlx\redcell\redcell.ini)?

Yes, I's possible. But plugin uses variable, that gives TC. Using plugin directory can make error, when plugin directory isn't writable.

I understand. However if this was optional it would be nice. I use a fully portable TC installation, so no write issues here. Actually the same question for your RedDetect plugin (formerly PCIDetect): Downloaded PCI.db is also always put in TC main folder. Also here an option for the plugin folder would be nice.

Yes, there are many of suggestions. If the people want, maybe I should return the storage configuration of the plug-in folder. Interesting opinion of the public.
