Feature: select Tabs by number: Ctrl-1, Ctrl-2, Ctrl-3, etc.

Post by *brezel »

i apologize if this has been asked / requested before or if there even exists a way to do this. i searched the forum and checked every help i could find but didn't find anything like that.

i would much appreciate if this feature and these default shortcuts (see subject) could be implemented. thats how tab selection works in tabbed web browsers (mozilla, MyIE). i'm much used to this and find it much easier than doing 5 Ctrl-Tabs to switch to the 5th tab in a row.

thanks a lot for considering this!

A very very good idea :!: :!:

I SUPPORT IT

MORE:
I think that it will be very useful, if TC includes in the configuration window a new tab: "KEYBOARD MAP", in which include all the keyboard shortcuts, even the TC's native ones.

Excellent - that would make tabs REALLY USEFUL POWERFUL feature.
BTW: Keyboard mab including native TC key shortcuts would be very useful.

Well, it was but you don't have to apologize, I guess. And AFAICR the Christian's answer was negative.[/face]

I'm using Mozilla on a daily basis but Ctrl-1 opens a Navigator Window, Ctrl-2 opens Mail & Newsgroups, ...

How did you get Mozilla to switch tabs with Ctrl-1 ?

You have to use Mozilla -Firefox. There have you this feature.

Well, it was on Beta forum, so you just physically can't go to that URL. All I can do for you is quotation, is it enough? So, in English on background %):

Tester:

For using the tabs with the keyboard it would be great to have some automatic shortcut:
CTRL+1 for the first tab
CTRL+2 for the second tab

C.G.:

I didn't want to reserve 10(!) additional hotkeys just for the tabs...

Black Dog,

thanks for the background.

assigning Ctrl-1 ... Ctrl-0 to Tab-1 ... Tab-10 doesn't mean reserving them. you can reassign shortcuts.

as for me, it would't be necessary to assign those shortcuts by default if i could assign them myself. unfortunately, i can't, as apparently there is no command for doing so. i would be very happy if there was ...

(and if there was, it would probably make much sense to add those default Ctrl-x shortcuts as they are currently unused and the most expected choice for tabs ;))
