-Deleting from RAR switches keyboard input

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-Deleting from RAR switches keyboard input

Post by *ts4242 »

I noticed that when deleting file or folder from RAR archive, my keyboard switch from English to Arabic but if it is Arabic, it doesn't change.

I tested with fresh ini file.

TC 8.50ß14 32x
Windows 8 32x
WinRar 4.20 32x

You probably have a line
KeyboardID=<your layout>

in your wincmd.ini. This switches the layout to the specified one whenever you switch to Total Commander. When packing, TC will lose focus to RAR, and reset the layout when getting the focus back.

Yes i'm aware of KeyboardID and did tests with KeyboardID=0 before posting.

I did further test and found that the keyboard input switch by WinRar not TC, because switching the keyboard input occur when deleting from the rar file using WinRar program interface.

I have updated WinRar to the latest version 5.01 but the problem is still exist.

I have reported the bug to WinRar author.

You can now use rar.exe instead of winrar.exe, it is fully supported in the latest beta. Since it's not a Windows GUI program, it should not have any effect on keyboard layouts.

Indeed, I have changed my Total Commander setting to use Rar.exe instead of WinRar.exe and the problem gone! so there is something wrong with the graphic interface.
