-Not all files in System32 is shown, rdpclip.exe for example

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-Not all files in System32 is shown, rdpclip.exe for example

Post by *good_alias »

First I thought I might have forgotten to turn on the new setting "show system files"
But, no, that's not the problem. I can see the file i Windows Explorer. In Total commander the only file starting with rdpc is rdpcore.dll
I run Total Commander 8.50, but I got the same effect trying 8.01. I even tried a clean install with all my settings removed, still same problem.
I run Windows 7, I see this problem on both my machines. UAC is turned off, but I tried to run TC as administrator anyway, no difference.
I have selected to see both hidden and system files in TC and if I select
all files TC reports 2322 file(s) and 86 dir(s)
Command line dir says: 2752 files and 95 Dirs

I'm shaken normally TC always shows my the most true picture...is Windows broken?

Below you can see my resulte from the commandline.

C:\Windows\System32>dir rdpc*
Volume in drive C is OSDisk
Volume Serial Number is CE6B-DA65

Directory of C:\Windows\System32

2010-11-21 04:24 10 240 rdpcfgex.dll
2010-11-21 04:24 210 944 rdpclip.exe

2012-08-23 10:51 3 174 912 rdpcorets.dll
5 File(s) 4 577 280 bytes
0 Dir(s) 292 305 444 864 bytes free

C:\Windows\System32>attrib rdpclip.exe
A C:\Windows\System32\rdpclip.exe

I tried to copy rdpclip.exe to my temp folder, then I can see the file.
I can't see this file in Double Commander either.

Please refer to "Windows x64: Explorer vs TC: Content of System32 different "
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=25743

Suppose use the internal command "cm_SwitchX64Redirection" may solve your doubt.

It is better not to use cm_SwitchX64Redirection, it enables many troubles. Better to enter pseudo-folder C:\Windows\SysNative to see true 64-bit System32 contents.

Or, well, the 64-bit version of TC.

Great, works fine to use 64-bit TC or to look in Sysnative instead.
