TotalAndroid and ADB Android ask for IP address - stuck

Post by *nn1k3 »

I apologize for my naive question. I connect my Android 4.1.2 to my Win7 PC using a USB cable. I can tell the cellphone treat the USB cable as either "charge only" or "media device (MTP)" or "Camera (PTP)". When I run TotalAndroid.wfx it asks for the IP address of my cellphone. Likewise for ADB.wfx. But my connection is via USB cable, so I presume it does not have an IP address. I guess that totalandroid and ADB are looking for a wireless connection. I don't understand.

I also tried Ghisler's MediaAudio2 and it connects easily - I see my Internal Storage and my SD Card. I'd be grateful for advice on how to get TotalAndroid and ABD to work rather than just ask me for an IP address. Thanks for your patience.

The "Connect To Device" option in "Android ADB" is only for wireless connections. You will see a separate entry above for USB connections only when one is available.

Did you enable Android Debugging? (also named USB debugging).

Android ADB has two requirements for USB connections:
1. Enabled "Android debugging" on your device
2. Device connected to USB with proper drivers (an ADB device must be listed in Windows Devices)
