remount error
hello all,
having remount issues on my galaxy s4 mini (gt-i9190) with /system; actually have to use root explorer for any system mods and virtually any attempt to remount to -rw throws an error with TC.
everytime i try to mount -rw i get the same remount error in 2.04 final and also the latest beta.
i am running 4.2.2 stock and rooted.
any help would be greatly appreciated i would much rather use TC for system mods than root explorer.
thanks.
oh, and i have also tried manually making shell command buttons for remounting system as -rw and they did help, but i am still getting the remount error.

just a straight "remount error" and the weird thing is that small files, .xml, .txt, .kl, .prop files can be copied with one or two presses of remount...any one or more .apks can't be copied to /system/app and the delete function doesnt work entirely as with other phones. some are deleted and some are not. root explorer remounts, copies, deletes without error. this is the first phone i have had issues with this remount problem with TC, other phones with TC have worked flawlessly.
any help is greatly appreciated.

Try this:
1. Write down the command sent to remount the system drive. It is shown when you tap on the remount button. It should look like this:
mount -o remount,rw -t ext4 /dev/block/something /system
2. Add a new user button with
type: shell command
command: su
parameters: the command written down in step 1
Then tap on this button. It should show you the error returned by the mount command.

thanks for responding.
tried and get "function succeeded"; no error with this command/button, however the remount button does the same "remount error".
dont know what is going on, but thanks again for your help.
i am using TC for read only system tasks with this phone (because it is such an amazing app) and root explorer for everything else; that is currently my workaround.

Hmm, that's very odd. Are you able to write to the directory after re-mounting manually?

that depends, i can with some small files (txt,kl,xml, etc) but with .apks it is variable, some write others will not; and deleting is just as random.
this is the first phone that has been so random with TC writing; i also have an sgh-t399 which works flawlessly with TC.
I am completely puzzled but because it is such an amazing app with a great ui i just use my workaround and that works just fine for my needs.
thanks again for your help and advice.

Could you try to flash the zip version of SuperSU manually? Something is definitely wrong.
http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/
It's called UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip

hello,
thanks again for your help, i dont have a custom recovery installed to flash that zip (intentionally, as i have the dreaded samsung knox warranty bs) but i do have the latest supersu installed (2.01) from the play store and getting the same identical result as post #5;
it could definitely be this phone and an anomaly if others are not having this issue, i am completely ok with my workaround; i appreciate your time thus far and all my other androids work flawlessly with TC, there is most likely is something wrong but probably with my gt-i9190.
thanks anyway.

Hmm, it seems that it differs from a properly rooted device - maybe some programs are missing, or behaving differently.

Yes, also Sony devices needs a ric killer for proper root, but with the root methods released lately, this is included in all of them. I have an Xperia Z2 with latest firmware, it is properly rooted (all the root applications work including Xposed) and in Root Explorer I can remount rw without any problem but TC 2.05b5 gives me this error on every remount command:ghisler(Author) wrote:Hmm, it seems that it differs from a properly rooted device - maybe some programs are missing, or behaving differently.

It looks like as it doesn't properly forms/uses the remount command because it tries to use a module which doesn't exists. Though it lists every system folder without any problem, write doesn't work (use root method everywhere checked/unchecked).

Try reinstalling the latest SuperSU from play store. I have rooted my S4 mini with TowelRoot, and after installing SuperSU, I have no problems to remount...
