Feature request: command to jump to first file in directory

Post by *stud »

When working with TC, i frequently want to jump to the first file (not directory) in the current folder (eg when sorting by date and accessing a lately modified file). I think it would be useful if TC had a command which allows me to jump to the first file in the current sorting, which is not always very easy to select by other means, especially if there are a lot of directories in the current folder.
If there is already a possibility to do this in TC (like the last time I posted such a request ;) ), i apologize for not having searched enough the forum.

I think this option could be useful sometimes. Maybe one could use [alt]+[pos1] as shortcut.

It seem to be logical as [pos1] & [shift]+[pos1] & [ctrl]+[pos1] are still used for similar commands.

:) Hello Stefan !

• The stud's request makes sense. I support it too.
...[alt]+[pos1]...
* Do you mean Alt+1Num. ? In that case, why not ?
* However, I think that a command for a button should be opportune too,
something like : cm_JumpToFirstFile for users who can't type easily because a handicap…

Thank you for the info

:) Hi !
• Thanks for the info. I use a French keyboard, so there is only a diagonally arrow as symbol; that key is so-called "Début" (Beginning, Top).
* However, in my modest opinion, Alt+ Num1 is as so reachable, and doesn't make any confusion.

«Clo : Knowledge is not information.»
- The forum of TC must be both... and not boxing ! With regard to another "noisy" topic currently… }

I'd prefer [alt]+[home].
As I mentioned [home] is still used to access the first file/directory; [shift]+[home] is used to select/unselect all files from current position to the first file(/directory); [ctrl]+[home] oh it seems it is used the same as [home].
So [Alt]+[home] seems to be logic to me to access the first file.
Of course a command were also very useful.

In text editors---

:) Hi again !
[ctrl]+[home] oh it seems it is used the same as [home].
• This shortcut is the same in TC, but in text-editors you get the first line, while Home places the cursor at the current line beginning…
* The last line with Ctrl+End
* The cursor at the end of the line with End only. Windows shortcuts, I guess.
* In Lister, either with Ctrl or without, you get always the top or the end of the file, that isn't quite normal…

That's normal indeed, just check your internet browser. If there is no cursor, how would you define "Home" or "Début"?
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Good idea, I will consider a cm_xxx internal command, so everyone can choose his own shortcut.
