7z plugin update

Post by *Tyler »

Hi everyone,

the FINAL version of the 7z archiver is out, at last!
It's called 7-Zip 15.12 Final.

Will someone please update the 7z plugin?

Thanks

Why ?
There is the Total7zip plugin which allows me to always use the actual 7zip installation and features.

If a am running a 32 bit version of TC, and the 7z version installed on my system is 64 bit, can Total7zip use it? Or would it be incompatible?

You can have the actual 32 bit files in the plugins dir.
Install the Total7zip plugin.
Download the 32bit setup of the newest 7zip and extract the few needed files from the setup into the plugins dir.

Btw why do you use a 32bit TC on a x64 system ?

Total7zip contains both, x86 and x64 (folder named 64) versions of 7zip.

just grab the new 7ip and copy over the needed new files

7z.sfx
7z.dll
7zG.exe
[Lang]

i do also use the 32bit version of TC, there are still plugins missing for x64...

That's a very good question.

I use the 32 bit version precisely because several plugins are still not available for the 64 bit version. That'a a pity!

So, in the end, what do you advise me to do? Since 64-bit support is still not available for TC, should I keep using the 32 bit version of TC and the 32 bit version of 7z (copying the binary files)?

Or is someone working on making the 64 bit version of 7z available to TC?
In this case, I can wait.

Thanks to all

What x64 plugins do you miss ?
Also you can install the combined x86/x64 version of TC
and switch with a simple button to the x86 version for some plugins.

this is all true, but for me, i don't see a big advantage of using the x64 TC, honestly.

as long as you don't mess in the windows system folders, i am absolutely fine with TC x64. memory usage never was an issue, well, not as long there's no memory leak.
