[8.52] Unzipping aborted with recent ZIP files
I have recently purchased a game provided as ZIP file. The internal ZIP decompressor does not work: the unzipping process is quickly aborted releasing the following error message:
--------------------------------------------------
Fatal error in unzip thread, aborting!

The same problem occurs if I use an OLD versione of WinZip (v 10), but unzipping is accomplished successfully with a newer version (WinZip 20). I suppose that the internal decompressor is somewhat obsolete, and unable to cope with recent ZIP protocols.

I wonder about that too. There are some zipx methods not supported by TC, like special mp3 or jpg packing. But they have different method numbers and don't cause a crash.

You can see the mentioned "Method" column and "Info" icon on the following screenshot of 7-zip File Manager with opened 7-zip archive: https://www.simplecomputingguides.com/sites/default/files/How-to-use-7zip-to-manage-compressed-files-13.jpgrobby wrote:Ehm... sorry, it's not clear to me where should I look for these data... I'm sorry I don't ignore your post, but how that advice will help Christian to find out the reason of the crash?Horst.Epp wrote:You should install the Total7zip plugin, not the 7-zip program.
Then you can associate the plugin with zip files.

I checked the crash report - the error seems to happen somewhere in lzma decompress. So the files are probably packed with lzma, but do not correctly implement the standard, or use some new packing method not supported by Total Commander.

Strange, I don't get any crash here with this file, also tried TC 8.52. I will analyze the stack trace.
