vertical buttonbar not centered
The vertical buttonbar is not centered. There are 4 pixels to the left and only 1 pixel is to the right. A reason could be that the splitter is moveable on the left only. I would recommend to add 3 pixels on the right for symmetry purposes.

The reason why this is done is so the user notices where the splitter is now!

Maybe it would be better to make both sides splitters?

hijacking this one: would it be possible to make the border of BOTH sides of the icon the same width? atm the vertical bar just looks ugly this way with a 3 pixel border on the left (because of the splitter) and a 1 pixel border on the right. TIA

I still haven't found a solution to make the position of the splitter more visible, though. I tried with a different color, but it looks ugly.

Does it need to be more visible? I wouldn't say so. It's obvious that it must be somewhere between panels, so all it takes is one short mouse move to see where cursor changes. And it's only one time process, once it's discovered, it doesn't need to be rediscovered ever again, unless user has some serious issues with memory (not the computer one :).
