Shift+F5 moves cursor position

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Shift+F5 moves cursor position

Post by *HPA »

When I want to make a copy of a file pressing Shift+F5 it shows a dialog where the filename is selected, but not the extension and the cursor is placed before the dot of the file extension.
When pressing the Right Arrow key the selection is cancelled, but now the position of the cursor has moved behind the dot.

In TCmd 8.52a this was not the case, and with Shift+F6 the cursor stays before the dot when pressing the Right Arrow.

Have you checked your settings?

Tip: see Configuration > Options >>> Operation

Yes, I have checked the "Select only the file name when renaming (not the extension)"
I want to change from "File.ext" to "File-copy.ext", but now I have to move the cursor from behind the dot to before the dot to type the extra text.
No problem when using Shift+F6.
I'm using Win 10 Pro x64.

Ahh, THAT!

On 'Shift+F5', with "Select only the file name ..." option
if you press right arrow key, the cursor is BEHIND the dot.
But should be positioned left of the dot for convenience.
(because we would more often rename base name than the extension)

In the past we could just press Arrow-Down key.

But now with TC9 beta1:
17.01.16 Added: Shift+F5/F5 Copy/Move in place: Show combobox with all open tabs and all subdirectories in the source panel (32/64)

...we have to press Arrow-Right, plus then Arrow-Left to accomplish that.

I have never used the Arrow-Down key, and with Shift+F6 the Arrow-Down doesn't work, the selection isn't cancelled.
