Windows delete confirmation prompt still displayed

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Windows delete confirmation prompt still displayed

Post by *Lefteous »

Env.: Win 7, x64

Windows:
Recycle bin settings: Show confirmation dialog _checked_
TC:
Win95Delete=0
VistaDelete=default
UseTrash=1

1. Navigate to any folder
2. F8 on any file
3. TC displays a second confirmation dialog box

Expected: As TC should now be capable of detecting whether a file can be moved to trash or not the internal dialog should be sufficient.

Sorry, cannot reproduce, I only get one dialog. What dialogs do you get?

Confirmed -In TC9b3 I always get a Windows dialog (like Lefteus) when deleting ro recycle bin, except when VistaDelete=0, then I get a dialog with string 6,7 or 8 - not the new strings 1035, 2037 or 2038

This is an error dialog from Windows because you need admin rights. How does this have anything to do with the normal "confirm delete" dialog?

Yes it is - but it is the unnessary Windows dialog. There is also an equivalent dialog in TC, right?

Beside from that the same problem also occurs when trying to move a file to the bin. This is why the problem description in my first post is so generic.

I cannot prevent that dialog, it's needed to delete in root dirs when using the VistaDelete method.

I thought it works like this:
1. Ask Explorer if a certain object can be moved to trash or not
2. Based on the reply display the propert TC dialog

19.06.16 Fixed: Show translated text when deleting to recycle bin (title and changed body) (32/64)
2036="Do you really want to move the selected file %s to the recycle bin?"
2037="Do you really want to move the selected directory %s to the recycle bin?"
2038="Do you really want to move the %i selected files/directories to the recycle bin?"
2039="Move to recycle bin"
2040="Permanently delete"
Under what situation are these strings then supposed to be shown?

If you have "Display delete confirmation dialog" disabled in Windows (disabled by default since Win10) and "F8/Del deletes to recycle bin (Shift=directly)" enabled in TC (enabled by default).

Aha - thanks. Note, you also have to have VistaDelete=-1 in wincmd.ini

Or no VistaDelete line at all, because -1 is the default.
