[b3] Check for updates dialog has confusing buttons

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[b3] Check for updates dialog has confusing buttons

Post by *glipman »

I do not know if this is new for b3 but I think the buttons on the check for updates dialog are very confusing.

It says 'Do you want to enable automatic update checks' and shows 'Yes', 'No' and 'Cancel'. My point is: the No and Cancel button do exactly the same here (= nothing). It is weird to have a cancel button when there is nothing to cancel. Yes will enable automatic updates.

When you enabled the automatic updates the dialog next time changes to 'Automatic update checks are enabled. Do you want to DISABLE automatic update checks'. Again the same confusion between No and Cancel. Also this time the Yes button changes behavior in the same dialog (it now disables something).

My suggestion: change the text on the buttons to Enable/Disable/Cancel or even better: show only a checkbox '[ ] automatically check for updates' with just an 'Ok' or 'Close' button

Cancel button added to enable closing the dialog by pressing <ESC> key

There are many dialog contains Cancel button while the answer is Yes/No only, e.g. deleting FTP connection, closing locked folder tab etc...

Yes, exactly! It would be nice if ESC worked also with No when there is no Cancel...
