TC9ß8 on Windows Server 2008
On my windows 2008 Server it's TC 8.52A installed.(32bit)- all fine!
Trying to install the new 9.0ß8 fails.
The installation doesn't start, even with the option "start as administrator".
What could be the reason?

Hello, jprao.
I am not sure reporting the problem which you experienced in the "TC 9.0x bug reports" section was the right place, because I am not sure that the problem is caused by a bug in the TC9.0b8 installer:
On a Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit, I have updated from TC 8.52a 64-bit+32-bit to
+ TC 9.0b6
+ TC 9.0b7
+ TC 9.0b8
without experiencing any problem when launching the installer as administrator.
So, maybe your downloaded installation package is damaged? Or maybe the antivirus software on your server silently prevents the installer from starting? Does the same problem occur if you launch the TC 8.52a installer? (You might pretend to update the existing installation to itself for testing purposes.)
Regards,
Karl

Hello Karlchen,
because of a hardware crash it's a new installed server, the installation with TC8.52a works, the installation with 9.0ß8_32 doesn't startup.
Based on your tip I downloaded the 9.0ß8_32_64 also with the same result.
The server runs in a QNAP vitualization station, I thionks this shouldn't be an problem, because alle the other software runs well.
Regards
Jürgen

Maybe it is a problem with the TC installers digital signature versus your OS - The signature format has been changed in TC9.

Hi, Petermad. Hi, jprao.
The 8.52a installer carried a Sha1 signature only. The 9.0b8 installer carries 2 signatures, the Sha1 and a Sha256 signature.
This does not cause any problems, either on my Windows 7 HP 64-bit SP1, nor on the Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit, which I mentioned.
Both Windows systems have received all available security updates.
Perhaps this makes the difference.
Could this be?

Could you verify the signature in the properties dialog of the installer, please? Maybe a certificate is missing.
It may also be a over-protective antivirus since the beta isn't as popular as the release version.

Maybe it's a problem described here: You cannot run an application that is signed with a SHA-256 certificate on a computer that is running Windows Vista SP2 or Windows Server 2008 SP2.

Ah, that could be - but shouldn't be a problem with the latest service pack. Why would someone run a server without the latest fixes?
