To reproduce:
1. Enable: "Show icons for special folders: Normal file system".
2. Make a special folder icon for a folder via desktop.ini.
3. Share the folder. You now see the special icon with the share "hand" overlay.
4. Disable: "Show icons for special folders: Normal file system".
5. Now the folder is not showing the overlayed "hand" anymore. Other shared folders without a desktop.ini file are still shown with the "hand" overlay.
In TC8.52a such folders were shown with the "hand" overlay.
Restarting TC after step 4 does not make any difference.
