Transfer of files bigger than 4 GB

If I try to transfer a file bigger than 4 GB the transfer starts but stops with an error message after 3,9x GB. I think this a restriction of the Android file system. A solution could be an intrinsic file split/join functionality of TC to transfer the file in chunks of size below 4 GB.

Where did you try to put the file? On my Nexus 7, I can put files >4GB on /storage/emulated/0

Maybe you tried to copy it to an SD-Card formatted with FAT32? FAT32 does indeed have a size limit of 4GB (minus 1 byte).

Yes, I tried to copy it to a SD card which was formatted by my phone LG G5. Anyway the file can be reconstructed by a split/join utility on this card and handled by a multimedia app.
What about a split/join functionality in TC?

I will consider it. Maybe you could format the card as ExFAT instead of FAT32? ExFAT supports files >4GB. It looks like the G5 does support ExFAT, as well as Windows Vista, 7 and newer, and MacOS X.

Thanks for considering, looking forward to see it implemented (btw, it was requested in 2012!). Now TC4A v. 3 uses more memory, so the Editor opens text files of smaller sizes than TC4A v. 2.x on my Android 4 device.
To make the split feature Editor-friendly, I'd also like to request "Don't break words" and "Don't break lines" options. With that, the chunks will probably have different sizes (but not bigger than "Max chunk size" - the proposed option name of desktop TC's "Bytes per file..."), but it will be more comfortable to read each chunk in TC Editor.
