Total Commander 9.10 pre-beta test starting
In a few weeks, the beta test for Total Commander 9.1 will start. Since many thousands of people will get the notification about the update, I want to ensure that there aren't some bad errors in it when starting the public test.
Therefore I would like to send a pre-beta to about 10-20 regular experienced forum users, so I can remove such errors before the first public beta. There will be no beta forum, just feedback via e-mail. I will not add any new features during this period either.
The most important improvements are:
- support for multiple screens with different DPI per screen on Windows 10 (requires latest release version, "creators update", or newer). This was a tough one, took me almost 2 months...
- F7 new folder can now use the same placeholders as the multi-rename tool (e.g. date+time), and create multiple directories in one step using a counter
- Multi-rename tool: New placeholders for inserting current date+time
- option to use latest "Everything" tool in Alt+Shift+Enter/Spacebar free space calculations
- support for Windows 10 fall creators update (currently pre-release), mainly OneDrive online only file support
- Lister: Support touch screen scrolling+text selection
- Internal 7zip unpacker: Support background unpacking
- Support new pseudo environment variables from values described here
- Support Unicode names when loading images via Irfanview (needs new Unicode version of Irfanview)
- Compare by content: Set width in binary mode to 8, 16, 24 or 32 bytes
- Set font quality (e.g. force antialiasing on/off)
And of course a lot of bugfixes and minor enhancements.
Please post a reply here in the forum if you want to participate. I will contact you via the e-mail address you used in the forum.
I'm limiting this to users with at least 100 posts OR who joined the forum 5 years ago or earlier. If you do not fulfil these criteria, please describe why you think that you need to test one of the above functions now. There will be a public beta test for everyone in a few weeks.
