New features of Wildcards (V9.10)

Post by *FVG »

Hey,
I'm busy writing an update (related to V9.10) for the Dutch User Manual and I have a problem with the new features about the use of wildcards.
The text in the history file says: "Support wildcards in the form \subdir1\subdir2\*.ext or \*.ext (for base dir) to include/exclude files in specific subdirs relative to the sync base directory. Supports wildcards in dir names too, e.g. \subdir*\*.ext (32/64)".
I've tried several things and combinations in the 'synchronize dirs' windows but I can't find out what the new features are doing.
So is there someone here who can explain it to me in a simple way. If possible with some examples and/or screenshots so I can try it in the Dutch version.
Thanks a lot.

It's for the box between the two panels.

\subdir1\subdir2\*.ext includes files of types *.ext in subdirectory relative to the start path. For example, if the left panel contains
c:\test
then the files are found in
c:\test\subdir1\subdir2\*.ext

Without starting backslash:
subdir1\subdir2\*.ext
TC looks for these subdirs anywhere in the path below c:\test:
c:\test\*\subdir1\subdir2\*.ext
e.g.
c:\test\some other folder\subdir1\subdir2\*.ext
c:\test\very\deep\folder\somewhere\else\subdir1\subdir2\*.ext
