Two display requests
1) Allow display of files only (no subdirs).
When using a tree view in one pane, showing the subdirectories
in the other pane is redundant & wastes real estate.
2) Display directories without those #^&*! brackets!
Far less legible with the brackets. Icon already identifies directories
well.

Hello ! Welcome on board !
Ctrl+B (Branch View) displays all files without directories… The same to come back.
* It's the first thing I do when I installed a TC
TIP : to read the Help / Tutorial is very useful
Kind regards,

¤ If I well understand that you want :1) Allow display of files only (no subdirs).
Ctrl+B (Branch View) displays all files without directories… The same to come back.
¤ In <wincmd.ini>, set :2) Display directories without those #^&*! brackets!
Code: Select all

- It's that Branch View does. I wonder that you got a so long listing from 5 sub-dirs. and 4 files, except if these sub-dirs contain a huge amount of files ! Maybe had you the other window active on the drive-root when you lauched Ctrl+B ? I did that by mistake onceI didn't check but I guessed that it was showing all the files in all the subdirs.

Try this:kbochert wrote:1) Allow display of files only (no subdirs).

1) Add this line in wincmd.ini under [Shortcuts] section then restart Totalcmd
C+A=cm_ShowOnlySelected (Ctrl+A is just for example, you can name your own shortcut)
2) Select all except subdirs
3) Press Ctrl+A

Unfortunately there is a bug in TC IMHO, because theoretically you could filter the panel with ctrl F12 by defining a filter: on the Advanced tab select Attributes and unselect Directory. This works when searching for files, but does not work when filtering panels.

I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Yep, it's a well known behaviour of TC. Please seeThis works when searching for files, but does not work when filtering panels.
