Save file dialog not displayed when editor closed with back button for new ext sd txt file tc3.0b1

If I long touch the parent directory dots to create a txt file on an external sd card, enter some data, and close the editor with the software back button without saving, the Save Files dialog is not displayed. Instead, the file is saved with an appropriate message briefly displayed (I'm not fast enough to read it). If I subsequently edit the file (via the context menu), the dialog is displayed as expected.

With a file on internal storage, the Save Files dialog is displayed as expected.
