OPUS 8 flat view

Post by *OUrm7Vo2 »

The flat view allows all folders/files to be expanded and displayed at once. I like that feature alot.

The Flat View (Directory Opus) is called Branched View for TC and it's already possible. Just press Ctrl+B.

But this does not show the folders, just all of the files in the folders? Not the same as OPUS 8 which shows files AND folders.

[mod]I made a new topic, as the Flat View isn't really a new feature of TC 6.50. Hope you don't mind.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

It's one of the Flat View options: http://img89.exs.cx/img89/1289/flat_view.jpg

I know DOpus is slightly more flexible there, but I also didn't know if you knew it was "parcially" possible with TC. ;)

Found a plugin (thanks to HolgerK) to make the Flat View possible like in DO:

You may open search dialog, enter * in 'search for' field and then feed search results into panel - you will see both files and folders in this panel.

I also use a CustomColumn that has PATH as one of its TabStop fields. Though I believe it would be pretty cool if there was a display mode to show the filelists akin to Opera Bookmarks (in a Panel):
+[Folder 1]
+[Folder 2]
--[Folder 3]
-| +[SubFolder 1]
-| A file1.ext
-| A file2.ext
-| A file3.ext

Basically TreePanel mode, without separating treePanel into it's own "window". And an option to expand or unexpand all Folders.

Please post full instructions. That's a lister plugin, it has no effect on quick view mode at my end.

Apparently all it does is show an expandable folder tree (in the QuickView panel) with folder sizes appended to the names. No files.

A file panel display mode similar to the way Picasa does it (a scrollable, linear list of files grouped by folders or some other criteria) would be incredibly useful in TC. I'd use it every day.

Actual a rudimentary navigation inside the Quick View panel is possible:
<Enter> (sorry no mouse click(s)) on a file or folder in the tree, opens the corresponding path in the other panel.

@ HolgerK ... but its JohnFredC ... a self proclaimed Mouse-Centric user!

Of which I am as well, there's been more than one occasion I have copy/pasted letters with the mouse to avoid reaching over for the keyboard, heh.

I know
That was the reason for the sorry.

BTW: there is a workaround for mousers:

Dirinfo supports a file and folder context menu.

If this menu is extended with an "Open in Total commander" menu entry, only a RMB+LMB combo is needed. ;)

Interesting. I did ask Christian to put in a Opus flat view mode here only recently, but he told me no, so that is the end of that (just have to keep using Opus for that).

I installed the plugin and if I have selected a folder on the left panel and have quickview activated, i get the tree on the right panel. There are 4 Icons in the left top, there you can choice: view only folders, folders and files :-), and expand all :-), and compress all. The view with files is the same as in DO, and the great option:expand all.
Some file operations are possible with the right mouse button context menue. Works fine at my PCs, but the quickview needs for the folders the configuration: no extension.
