Hello! Welcome on board !
- You are not bound to use an ICL to display any icon in TC, either for the file-types or for the button-bar... *.ico files do the trick as so well!
- Moreover, if you want to add icons in the original DLL which comes with TC, it's possible, but you need an icon-editor, and only 16-colour icons are supported; this is a 16-bit library…
- With a good icon-editor, you can create some ICLs for 8 BPP or 24 BPP icons. You can import icons as *.ico files to build such a library…
Kind regards,

Adding additional icons to the TC Iconlib can make trouble if @ghisler adds some new icons for coming features. As you know the icons are selected by position and you would have to change the iconlib as well as the referrer to your custom additional icons.
I did use some time own iconlibraries for my buttonbars etc. But I had the problem with adding a new Icon and having to change all referrers in my buttonbar. So I use now a single folder for all my icons and select them by name and not by "iconlib,#number".
