TOTALCMD.ANN

Post by *wanchan »

I just did an uninstall of Total Commander 6.03a to resolve some problems I had. The problems have been resolved, but I found something that I need to know.

After the uninstall completed, I found a file called, TOTALCMD.ANN, located at
C:\Documents and Settings\My Username\Application Data\Help.
Under the above directory, there are two files, TOTALCMD.ANN and WinHlp32.BMK. I doubt the second one has anything to do with TC.

Questions:
1. Could anyone kindly advise what the file is for?
2. Do I need to delete this file in order to clean-reinstall TC?
I guess not, but I am paranoid as I depend on TC a lot.
3. I also want to know at what point of time, the file was crerated? I backed up and deleted the file from the directory and reinstalled TC. But I can no longer see the file in the directory.

Thanks for advising.

Welcome to the forum

This file is probably Help Annotation. Probably when you read TC Help you put some annotation.
You can delete it if you don't need it or leave it if you want to use it again. It's used only by the help file, not TC itself.

Thanks djk.

What you said is correct. Whether or not keep the TOTALCMD.ANN file does not affect the working of TC.

Sorry for the delay in responding.
