What I hate in TC is...
its UI. Very ugly. We need a newer, flexible interface (vertical bar, etc.).
Oh, and user's name in title bar should be optional too.

btw: tell us how the icons should look - maybe you can make the most beautiful icons ever and all the other users just want to use your icons an nothing else.

I agree with Raymond. Plus, two many function are using modal windows - you have to open another instance of TC while the other is working.Raymond wrote:Sometimes icons don't show as they are supposed to be.

I think the word "hate" is much to strong for this topic. I think "dislike" will be much more appropriate.
As a whole, I love TC and I think it's the best software I have ever tried.
In my case it would be the default UI. Fortunately it can be changed, but as a first impression it is really ugly. I am sure Christian has lost a good bunch of customers just because of this.
And the funny thing is that it is quite easy to fix :
1.- Default fonts MUST NOT be in bold characters.
2.- New and better icons are already available thru Maxwish's and Ergo's plugin's sites.
3.- Add Pdavit's extended menu and Aezay's TC Color Presets.
4.- And finally, as an added bonus, two or three of the best plugins, such as SynPlus, Multiarc (or Ono's 7zip plugin), xBaseView, etc.
So everything needed is already there for free.

Memo to Boss : No TC, No Work
That's a matter of taste IMO.1.- Default fonts MUST NOT be in bold characters.
Christian has a reason of keeping the menu simple. Take a look at UltraEdit's menu - it chased me away with its complexity and that I couldn't find some simple function I needed.3.- Add Pdavit's extended menu
Define "best" without insulting anyone.4.- And finally, as an added bonus, two or three of the best plugins

I guess I should be defending my property here!Hacker wrote:Christian has a reason of keeping the menu simple. Take a look at UltraEdit's menu - it chased me away with its complexity and that I couldn't find some simple function I needed.

Ok, the main purpose for developing this menu is to unravel "hidden" features of TC. It makes me really happy to see
users thanking me for discovering things they didn't know they can do with TC!
It is probably a bad idea to replace the default one but it wouldn't harm if included in the language folder so that
users can use it upon request. It could be like an alternative to the feature of rival file managers where you can
select the level of menu complexity and completeness.
It would be nice if we had three levels (i.e. three menu files with gradually increased complexity). The problem is
that the help file is tightly related to the default layout. Another problem is that it has to be translated in
many languages.

What I don't like about extended menus is in its structure. I would expect to have sub menues, so default menu never changes, extra features can. On my old PC I don't see the end of the list...
TC is keyboard driven which means that structured menus don't have greater impact. For example:
Show
- View >
-- brief
-- full
-- ...
- Sellection >
-- *.*
-- all
-- custom
...
I prefer keyboard if I find shortuct keys
