Hi,
There are at least 2 reasons for slow startup other than anti-virus scanning of the unpacking:
1 - from Huub: Posted: Mon Sep 27, 2004 2:56 am locked Tabs to network drives that no longer exist.
2 - it took my TC 101 seconds to load, the problem was the USB floppy on my laptop when empty. Since I removed this device load takes 1/2 second.
A configurable global or per device maximum timeout. A report of some kind after load showing the time spent accessing each device, especially after slow loads. Both would be helpful. The two above slow load reasons should be in the FAQ for slow along with anti-virus scanning.

Unfortunately there is no such timeout for Windows functions like FindFirstFile - they just hang. And when I try to call FindFirstFile in a different thread with a different drive while the first hangs, the second will also hang...A configurable global or per device maximum timeout.
