FTP "Host Not Found" bug

Post by *Genghis86 »

1) Attempt to FTP connect to an invalid, silent machine (e.g. one that does not send back a Connection Refused packet, but rather just stays silent and does not send back any reply at all).
2) Press Abort. You should see "Connection aborted" message.
3) Attempt to connect to a VALID FTP, that you know works for sure. But, because of the previously failed connection, TotalCommander will output "Host not found!" message (followed by "Connection aborted!") on a valid ftp.
4) Attempt to connect to VALID FTP again. Connection goes through.

it takes a couple seconds for the last attempt for a connect to filter through. I live with it.
after I get a no host found, I give it a couple seconds before trying it again. Works great that way.

I know very well the prob you are talking of. I never experienced until version 6 came out.
I ftp all the time and it has put a damper on it.

Problem I am having now is if I start TC then do an ftp, everything is fine. Then try to ftp again and it sits for like 30 seconds and finally tells me I have a socket error.
I restart TC and all is fine again untill that is I try to ftp a second time. lol

I noticed some a weird things with tc 6.5 and ftp too.
Yesterday I added a user to my ftp server and forgot a few setting so the user could not download.

Tc responded by locking up / crashing.

Does your ftp server support MODE Z compression? If yes, turn off MODE Z in Total Commander. This error will be fixed in TC 6.51.
