Problem w/ Custom view

If I set a custom view (Ctrl+F12, whatever it is called), so I can only see a .zip files, when I enter a .zip file I can't see it's contents (because of the custom view). I can revert to the normal view, but it would be nice if there was a way (and maybe there is) to set the view to only show .zip files but not to apply that view to the contents of the zip file.

Apply your custom view to one pane only (e.g. left), so you could press Ctrl+RightArrow to see Zip's content in right pane.
