What PlugIn for Packer let me add password to zip.

Post by *Peled »

I know that there is a way or plugIn to add a special radio bottom to
add a password to zip file when performing Alt-F5.
can any one tell me how to do it, or what PlugIn is adding it.

Sorry use Comelineparams for that as
TC will never have any encryption fuctions hardcoded
because of law reasons...

But it IS easy

Expample:
Select the Files you want to pack with rar
press ALT+F5, choose rar
In the line where
"rar:<Drive>:\<Path>\<Name>.rar" is written enter
"-p<Password>" without ""<>
voila...

Attention between "rar:<Drive>:\<Path>\<Name>.rar" and "-p<Password>" a space is NEEDED!

I recommend that you use winrar.exe instead of rar.exe, because some versions of rar.exe will not work correctly with TC. If you have installed the replacement ZIP library, you can also check 'encrypt with zip' and THEN the rar packer to encrypt with RAR.

Try something like THIS
Configuration -> Options -> Packer
set RAR-packer to WINRAR.EXE -p
you'll be prompted every time for password, when click Cancel, RAR will be created without password.
, or WINRAR -pPASSWORD then fixed password will be used.

Sorry that just gives you TC asking for a pw but the rar is still without encryption ;)
(Otherwise I wouldnt mention -p switch :))

Works 100% and more..

Post by *Peled »

Now I put the Winrar and it is working great.
I get the screen that allows me to Encrypt the file name.
That was what I was looking for initially, Since more and more mail servers have a special AnySpy/ Anti Virus, that will block
Zip file if they include EXE file in it.
Only way to get around it, is to Encrypt the file name, so that the
Protection would not intercept the attachment before it gets to the
Exchange server.

Only WinRar will encrypt the file name.

Now I am happy. Love this Total Commander
Was worth every penny of the 30 licenses I purchased.

This doesn't work for me either. It DOES show the password box but the archive created remains without password.
I must use the -p option, but now packing to rar ALWAYS needs a password. *SIGH*

EDIT: correction: by entering a BLANK password, a normal archive is made. OK, so no problem with that second bit, but the first remark is still true

That's very strange, it has worked in older TC versions. :(

I will check where the problem is.
