Ultimate File Manager 12.1 (October 2024) [Total Commander with predefined apps/plugins and settings]

Post by *Pawel »

I am developing Ultimate File Manager Project. Ultimate File Manager (UFM) is an advanced File Manager (package that extends the functionality of File Manager) distributed with carefully selected and configured freeware applications. The purpose of UFM project is making the best environment to run your favourite applications within one place. Main application of the project is well-known and appreciated Total Commander File Manager (and if you want, best freeware File Manager for Windows - Multi Commander). UFM lets you manage all of your files and applications in best and simplest way. This properly configured, easy to use and very powerfull environment gives you the best experience, whatever you want to do!...

The project was born out of the need to create a tool that will make working on the computer easier. The tool, that will allow you to perform any task in a simple and thoughtful way. The tool, that will be consistent and modern. The tool, that will look how I want and do what I want. I hope it suits You as well. It is thanks to You that I have continued to develop this project, despite many obstacles. I learned a lot, spent thousands of hours to make it better. I sincerely hope (and maybe even sure) that Ultimate File Manager serves you well in all tasks (from the simplest to the most complex). I hope, dear user, that you could have completed each task faster and better by focusing on doing your job, not the tool.

Ultimate File Manager is designed for Microsoft Windows platform and is distributed to the end user as an installer, which is written in NSIS and Delphi CE. UFM Installer allows you to easy and quickly install all of the selected components (properly configured File Manager, various Plug-ins/Addons that extends its functionality and appropriately selected external applications), with the option to choose the installation mode, select components install, etc.

Here is the project website: https://ultimatefilemanager.pl

NOTE:
I would like to remind you - Ultimate File Manager project is free for everyone - it will never change!
It is created with passion and commitment - for You. I hope it serves you and does what it is supposed to do. It is created in my free time. I do spend a lot of time trying to make it better. Please, try to remember this! If you want, you can support my project financially. Thanks for any donation - it really matters.

If you have any comments, suggestions for changes or found any problem, please notify me. Maybe you know some interesting and functional plugin? Maybe you would like me to implement some functionality? Do not hesistate - Ultimate File Manager is for You! Together we can make this project even better.

Big thanks to Christian Ghisler for his agree to build UFM project based on Total Commander - the best File Manager all over the world!

Hey,

I am looking for SPANISH and ITALIAN volunteer translators (native speaker) for my project - ULTIMATE FILE MANAGER (check the link in footer).
Translation files are 70% complete... I need someone who will help me and finish translation. I will send all needed files.

Please, let me know if anyone of you is interested. If so, contact me.

Did you include today's "very silent update" - published due a lack of digital signature? - viewtopic.php?t=79770

No, I didn't. I didn't know about it...
It is not so important. I think, I will not change it. Should I?

There is no better package than Ultimate File Manager. In TC for the first time I noticed a lot of possibilities in the "Power Pack" http://www.totalcommander.pl/rozbudowa-total-commandera/. It stopped being continued and I also came across "T.C. Ultima Prime" and UFM has a cool design .

There is a request . Can you in 'UFM Shell Manager' do so that you can open files for preview (not edit) in Notepad++ with the

Code: Select all

-ro
(read only) option. This can be done in the ShellManagerApps.ini , but it could be set from this tool.

If you want, write on the POL. subforum

@eltome
Thanks.
Please, describe your request in Polish sub-forum.
I am not quite sure what you are asking for. Do you want to open files in read-only mode? Even in F4 (Edit Mode)?
Shell Manager lets you open any file (F3) or edit file (F4) - in both modes you can edit files.

Not important to me. Simply in the Shell Manager does not work quite or there are restrictions in the program settings (in opening mode), eg. Notepad++ , adding the -ro parameter can only be added to the ShellManagerApps.ini file :
[Notepad++]
;...
OPEN_reg=0|-ro %1
;...

What is -ro?
Is that your parameter? Or TC parameter?
Is -ro parameter from N++?
As I understand, you want to open a file (F3) in Read-Only Mode, right?

Excerpt from Notepad++ manual, section "Usage via the command prompt":
-ro: Make the filepath read only

@eltome, @deus-ex
OK, Now I understand. I will check that out.

EDIT: OK, there is a bug in Shell Manager GUI - You can not set non-standard command line parameters for given extension of given application.
(However, you can add any parameter manually, by editing INI configuration file (ShellManagerApps.ini) - and it works).
I will fix it for the next release.

Sorry, I couldn't understand what you mean.
Thanks for report.

EDIT2: It is now fixed!

Once again, if you use it - DONATE.

This project will not be developed for public users with no support. Sorry.

I am slowly but constantly work on Ultimate File Manager in my free time.
I am going to release new version at the end of June (there will be a new internal application that allows to manage Windows clipboard).
Also, I am trying to make better UFM App Manager (to manage user applications).

However, there is a lot to do yet. I am trying to make project better and better, each release. It need time and money. I am only one on old laptop.

I thought it is a good moment to ask you. How do you like UFM project?
What should I change, add? Do you have any comments or suggestions for changes?
Please, add some comments, feedback is very important.

Last but not least i wanna ask you for donation.
Yes... developing such (free of charge) project means spending a lot of time on PC. It costs real money!
I thought I could count on your support... but I was wrong :(
Very few people supported the UFM project. Why? Is there any point in continuing to work on the project?
I am asking for financial support (donation). This is the only way for the project to continue to be developed... After all, I'm making it for you!
