With toolbar you probably mean the TC buttonbar, but I'm not sure about the "appearance scheme": is this a different TC iconlibrary or a Windows theme change or something ??

Total Commander should listen to the WM_SYSCOLORCHANGE message and redraw its toolbar properly.

Working with Windows commander since many years in all Operating systems, but never mist such function in my file manager.
Tts use is to manage files, no playing around with windows.

Playing around with windows?
Windows sends a message to all windows in the system (Total Commander for example) that a system color has changed. The toolbar background in Total Commander is not redrawn properly. It's not a function that you could have missed it's just a tiny bug.

Well, yes; why else would you be changing the colors? (and it would bother you to close and reopen TC)

Not a bug, it's an unneeded and thus unimplemented feature. If you feel like playing with colors, buy any decent image editor and fiddle with it till the sudden urge diminishes.

Cheers.

Actually TC does respond to WM_SYSCOLORCHANGE to change its colors. However, the toolbar is NOT updated because it's very slow. It is only updated when you close and re-open TC. This is done so your system isn't slowed down when trying out several different color schemes!

Another way to to make Total Commander repaint its toolbar is to press OK in Configuration/Buttonbar.
